Tasting of wines at excellent wineries in the gentle Collio hills near Grado.

The areas surrounding Grado offer an enchanting and relaxing hilly landscape with a microclimate unique for its temperature range and ventilation; these characteristics have favoured the growing of grapes since pre-Roman times.

Il Collio is an area producing fine wines that covers about 1,600 hectares and which since 1968 has been recognized as a DOC (Controlled Designation of Origin), one of the first in Italy.

From the hills of San Floriano and Oslavia above Gorizia to the hills of Ruttars, Lonzano and Vencò on the banks of the Judrio, once the border between Italy and Austria, the landscape is a succession of gentle rolling hills dotted with small villages, vineyards and farms where you can taste typical local products.

An original mix of Friulian, Austrian and Slovenian traditions combined with excellent white wines (Friulano, Pinot, Sauvignon, Ribolla Gialla, Verduzzo, Piccolit), often included among the best wines of Italy, make this area a paradise for foodies.
