The Doc Friuli - Isonzo

The Doc Friuli - Isonzo

The wines have been awarded the Doc mark (Controlled Designation of Origin) since 1974

The area Friuli - Isonzo is a band of low-lying land, extending south of the hilly area between Carso and Friuli - Aquileia.

Here, even the vine cultivated on the plain and watered by the River Isonzo produces an excellent, popular wine, which has been easily sold since ancient times. The Eneti, the first people already living on these lands many centuries before Christ, were mainly dedicated to agriculture and imported the vine from Greece.

The autochthonous wines produced are: Friulano and Verduzzo friulano, Malvasia and Refosco dal peduncolo rosso. They also cultivate:  Chardonnay, all Pinot and Cabernet, Italian and Rheine Riesling, Sauvignon, the aromatic Traminer, Merlot and Franconia.
