The town of San Daniele del Friuli is considered the main centre of the hill area of Friuli: from here you can enjoy endless views of rolling hills.
The San Daniele D.O.P. ham is the famous local pride, known all over the world to gourmets who appreciate its sweet and refined taste. The real secret of this product is the microclimate of the area, given by the meeting of the cool currents from the Alps with the humid and warm currents from the Adriatic. The unique and appreciated characteristics of its ham make San Daniele the destination of hundreds of thousands of people throughout the year and especially during the last weekend of June, when "Aria di Festa" takes place: the great event of international importance that revives the ancient medieval ham festival, transforming the alleys, squares of the historic centre and some of the farms into evocative tasting places.
In addition to the famous ham, another speciality of the area is the "Regina di San Daniele", an internationally renowned cold-smoked trout.
