On Sunday 4 October 2026, Grado will host the Italian 10 km Road Championship, one of the most important national events dedicated to road running.
Italy’s top athletes will compete for the national individual and club titles on a fast and spectacular course in the heart of Grado. A major FIDAL event, where athletics meets the sea.
The competition will bring hundreds of athletes from all over Italy to the ‘Isola del Sole’, who will race along a city circuit with the start and finish in Piazza Biagio Marin, passing through some of the town’s most characteristic spots, including the town centre, the seafront and streets overlooking the sea.
The route includes, amongst others, Piazza Biagio Marin, Lungomare Nazario Sauro, Viale Regina Elena, Viale Dante Alighieri, Viale Italia, Viale Argine Moreri and Via Amerigo Vespucci.
Programme:
SATURDAY 3 OCTOBER
From 5.00 pm to 6.30 pm – race number collection in Piazza Biagio Marin.
From 6.00 pm – Opening ceremony in Piazza Biagio Marin.
SUNDAY 4 OCTOBER
From 7.30 am until 60 minutes before the start of your race – race number collection in Piazza Biagio Marin.
8.00 am – Meet at the Grado Conference Centre.
9.00 am – Start of the 10 km Allievi race.
9.50 am – Start of the 10 km Junior/Promesse/Senior Women’s race.
11.00 am – Start of the 10 km Junior/Promesse/Senior Men’s race – Series 1 (qualifying time over 33’00”).
11.50 am – Start of the 10 km race for Junior/Promising/Senior Men – Series 2 (qualifying time between 31’30” and 33’00”).
12.40 pm – Start of the 10 km race for Junior/Promising/Senior Men – Series 3 (qualifying time under 31’30”).
1.20 pm – Start of the 5 km Girls’ race.
The competition timetable is subject to change due to organisational or safety requirements.
Traffic arrangements
To ensure the competitions can take place safely, temporary changes to traffic flow and parking will be in place on Sunday 4 October.
Road closure
From 08:00 to 15:30 on Sunday 4 October, and in any case until the need ceases, vehicles will be prohibited from travelling along the race route and in the areas directly affected by the event.

junctions, checkpoints and access points to the race circuit.
Traffic will be diverted along alternative routes, which will be clearly signposted on site. You are therefore advised to follow the temporary signage and the instructions of the Local Police and staff stationed at the access points. Parking restrictions
In theViale Italia Market car park area, ano-parking order with compulsory removal will be in force from 4.00 pm on Saturday 3 October until 6.00 pm on Sunday 4 October.
On Viale Italia and Viale Argine Moreri, the parking ban with compulsory removal will be in force from midnight to 4.00 pm on Sunday 4 October.
Residents and property owners
Subject to the running of the races and safety requirements, the local police may allow residents and property owners to temporarily drive through or move their vehicles.
Whilst athletes are passing through and in situations that compromise the safety of the competition, traffic will be completely prohibited.
Residents, guests and business owners are therefore advised to plan their journeys in good time for Sunday 4 October.
The roads will reopen once the event-related requirements have been met and following checks by the Local Police or designated municipal staff.
