Venue: Porto Mandracchio
Le Varvuole return to Grado to re-enact one of the island's most fascinating legends. According to tradition, every 5 January, these mysterious “sea witches” descend upon the streets to kidnap children and ransack houses. To protect themselves, the inhabitants used to pray and anoint their door handles with garlic: an ancient ritual that is still revived today in this spectacular travelling performance.
In case of adverse weather conditions, possible postponement to 6 January 2026.
