Every year, 1st May marks a symbolic moment for Grado: the official start of the beach season. It is the day when the town prepares to welcome guests and visitors, kicking off a new summer of sea, relaxation and outdoor living.
After the winter months, the beach takes centre stage once more: beach establishments get back up and running, parasols are set up and the coastline regains its liveliness. A much-anticipated event, representing not only the opening of the season but also an opportunity for the community and those who choose Grado as their holiday destination to come together.
The official opening, organised by Grado Impianti Turistici, takes place on 1 May with an official ceremony open to the public.
Programme for the day:
12.30 pm – Parade by the Grado Town Band
12.45 pm – Official speeches and blessing
1.15 pm – Flag-raising ceremony and National Anthem
The ceremony is a traditional event marking the start of the summer season, highlighting the bond between the town, its sea and its seaside history.
On 1 May, Grado opens its doors to a new summer, ready to offer experiences, a warm welcome and moments to enjoy between the beach, the historic centre and the lagoon.
