Venue: Centro città
To make visiting the historic centre even more enjoyable and safer during the busiest days of the summer, the Grado Town Council has introduced a temporary closure to motorised traffic on certain Sundays in July and August, as well as on Ferragosto.
The initiative aims to improve the quality of life in the town centre, reduce traffic and encourage a more relaxed experience of the narrow streets, small squares, shops, bars, museums and main attractions of the ‘Island of the Sun’.
Dates and times
The road closures are scheduled for the following days:
Sunday 12 July
Sunday 19 July
Sunday 26 July
Sunday 2 August
Sunday 9 August
Saturday 15 August
Sunday 16 August
Times: from 9.00 am to 1.00 pm.
Area affected
The area affected by the closure is bounded by the following perimeter:
Piazza Carpaccio – Via Volta – Riva Z. Gregori – Riva Scaramuzza – Via Barbana – Via Venezia.
All these streets will remain open to traffic, whilst access to the city centre will be prohibited to all categories of unauthorised vehicles.
For authorised vehicles, entry to the town centre will be permitted exclusively via the section of road in Piazza Carpaccio, between the public transport station and Via Manzoni, with one-way traffic towards Via Manzoni, as an exception to the normal direction of travel.
Parking is available at the Sacca dei Moreri car park, from where a free shuttle service to the beaches will be available.
Authorised vehicles
During the closure period, access to the area will be permitted for, amongst others:
residents;
guests of accommodation facilities and people with a private parking space within the affected area;
people with disabilities;
emergency vehicles and law enforcement vehicles;
buses, taxis, private hire vehicles, motorbikes and mopeds;
service vehicles and any other authorised categories specified in the municipal by-law.
The initiative aims to make the historic centre even more welcoming and safe, offering residents and visitors the chance to stroll, shop and enjoy the atmosphere of Grado with greater peace of mind on the busiest days.
The closure period may be reduced or suspended, at the discretion of the Local Police, depending on the availability of authorised parking spaces or in the event of adverse weather conditions, subject to agreement with the Police Headquarters.
