A new important exhibition space dedicated to the religious and cultural history of the island.

In December 2025, the new Civic Museum of the Treasure of Grado was inaugurated, an important exhibition space dedicated to the religious and cultural history of the island. Housed in the former parish church and named after Monsignor Sebastiano “Bastian” Tognon – the parish priest who, during the First World War, had the courage to save the basilica's precious treasure by hiding it in a carpenter's house – the museum pays tribute to a figure who is fundamental to the memory of Grado.

The new museum permanently houses ancient liturgical furnishings, reliquaries, vestments and sacred objects linked to the history of the Basilica and the thousand-year-old Patriarchate of Grado, a living testimony to Grado's deep ties with the Byzantine-Adriatic area. Alongside the “treasure”, statues, historical materials and works from the local ecclesiastical heritage are also on display, offering visitors a complete and fascinating account of the island's spiritual tradition.

THE MUSEUM WILL REOPEN IN MARCH.

Visiting hours:

10:30–12:30 and 14:30–19:30

A new place of remembrance that restores a precious piece of Grado's identity, preserved and handed down through the centuries.
