A new important exhibition space dedicated to the religious and cultural history of the island.

On 6th December at 11 a.m., the new Civic Museum of the Treasure of Grado will be inaugurated; an important exhibition space dedicated to the religious and cultural history of the island. Housed in the former parish church and named after Monsignor Sebastiano “Bastian” Tognon – the parish priest who, during the First World War, had the courage to save the basilica's precious treasure by hiding it in a carpenter's house – the museum pays tribute to a figure who is fundamental to the memory of Grado.

The new museum will permanently house ancient liturgical furnishings, reliquaries, vestments and sacred objects linked to the history of the Basilica and the thousand-year-old Patriarchate of Grado, a living testimony to Grado's deep ties with the Byzantine-Adriatic area. Alongside the “treasure”, statues, historical materials and works from the local ecclesiastical heritage will also be on display, offering visitors a complete and fascinating account of the island's spiritual tradition.

During the Christmas period, the Civic Museum of the Treasure will be open on the following days:

  • 7, 8, 13 and 14 December 2025;

  • from 20 to 30 December 2025;

  • from 1 to 6 January 2026.

Visiting hours:

10:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m.–7:30 p.m.

A new place of remembrance that restores a precious piece of Grado's identity, preserved and handed down through the centuries.
