Dante composes Inferno while immersed in the alienating and painful experience of exile, far from home and burdened by the feeling of injustice. Through writing he thus invents the possibility of being the author and at the same time narrator and character of an experience of evolution and redemption that will be valid for himself but also for the rest of humanity.

The Dante protagonist of this journey into the realm of the afterlife understands that it is his relationship with others - in the sign of divine will - that sustains him and leads him on the path to salvation and happiness.
The contact with the spirits and monstrous presences he encounters, the profound bond with his master Virgil, and finally the ancient flame of love that connects him to Beatrice, no longer a mute angel to be celebrated, but a severe guide and authoritative source of courage.
Of this journey, Inferno represents the hardest part that puts the poet, and those who identify with him, in contact with profound frailties, fears and inadequacies, in the face of the diversity given by his being alive among the dead and therefore powerfully saved. Dante thus establishes the possibility of creating another world, specular and connected to the real one, in which the self can have a direct experience of transformation. This world is literature.

Similarly, in this theatrical and experiential project, the use of Immersive Virtual Reality technology has been chosen, combined with an architectural design of space and sound in 3D, in order to bring the audience into contact with the totality of a fantastic dimension, which is not intended to replace the real one, but to remain interconnected with it, representing a stimulus for research and change.

It will begin with a prologue: an initial space of welcome and recollection, which will confront each person with his or her own self and the question: Why make this journey? What desires and fears?
Wearing the visors, one by one the spectators will be accompanied beyond the wall that separates the hereafter from the hereafter and left to their own journey. The first part of which will be the same for all, while the second will randomly lead the spectators to three selected locations among the infernal environments and then lead them back to a common ending. The experience thus remains replicable and in itself open, because through contact with death it contains within itself all the possibilities of life.
