MOSTRE E CONVEGNI
Empress Elisabeth of Austria exhibition
30 March 2024
Position: Casa della Musica, Piazza Biagio Marin
From 30 March to 26 May the Casa della Musica in Grado will host the exhibition Elisabeth of Austria - Modern Woman'.
The exhibition will focus on the figure of Elizabeth of Austria, Sissi, and her modern spirit. On display will be oil portraits of the empress, reproductions of her original dresses, original lithographs, books documenting her travels or books dedicated to her, photographs of the empress, Franz Joseph and family members.
In the exhibition Elisabeth of Austria, modern woman, promoted by the Municipality of Grado as part of the event "Grado island of women," in which objects from private collections only are exhibited, it will be she, the Empress of Austria and Queen of Hungary, who will accompany the visitor with her reflections, even poetic ones, throughout her life. The curator, Marina Bressan, has only provided hints on how to approach her, who in the aftermath of her death bequeathed abundant 'material' to poets, writers, journalists and artists to stage a shadow play on her femininity, permeated with an evocative charm. Even today, attempts are still being made to discover her personality.
